    Abstract: A backlight assembly is provided to suppress a brightness difference between a surrounding region of a light source and the other region by forming grooves on both lateral surfaces of each of a plurality of pole-shaped light-guiding bodies. A backlight assembly is disposed below an LCD panel to supply light to the LCD panel. A bottom chassis is disposed below the backlight assembly to receive the backlight assembly. The backlight assembly comprises a light source(160), a light source-driving circuit board(165), pole-shaped light-guiding bodies(170), a reflecting plate(180), and a diffusing plate. The light-guiding bodies are disposed in parallel. A plurality of grooves are formed on both lateral surfaces of the light-guiding body at regular intervals. In the light-guiding body, the depth of the groove gradually increases from the end portion to the center portion in the longitudinal direction of the light-guiding body. The reflecting plate is positioned below the light-guiding bodies to reflect and refract light effectively.
