Abstract: checking a present power management state by checking a value of a status flag, whenever a timer interrupt signal is generated; maintaining the present power management state as it is when the present power management state is determined to be the off state; changing a count time value to determine the time lapse of a predetermined time unit when the present power management state is determined not to be the off state; changing the status flag value to a value of the off state when the present power management state is determined to be the suspend state; changing timing values of the display control device to cut off supply of the horizontal synchronising signal and the vertical synchronising signal to a computer peripheral equipment; and changing the status flag value to a value of the suspend state when the present power management state is determined to be the stand-by state. The method selectively controls power supply or operating state of peripheral equipment corresponding to use state of computer system.
