Abstract: An apparatus and a method for generating a tab index of a web page are provided to generate tab indexes for elements of a web page to perform effective navigation on the web page by using a tab key for moving focus. An apparatus(200) for generating a tab index of a webpage includes a storage unit(220) and a controller(210). The storage unit stores preference information on elements of webpages. The controller analyzes a received webpage, generates tab indexes for elements of the received webpage based on the preference information and provides a webpage based on the generated tab indexes. In addition, the controller controls an output unit(240) to display that focuses for the elements included in the webpages moves sequentially according to a tap index created at the controller. The preference information is generated based on selection signals for elements included web pages used by a user.
