    Abstract: A method for managing domains and an apparatus thereof are provided to enable a domain manager, located in a home, to efficiently and safely manage and maintain home network domains with users in the center as the domain manager has a function for providing information about the domains established in the home, information necessary for the utilization of contents of each domain, and information related to domain security to other home devices. A domain manager, located in a home, creates a domain and stores information on the created domain in a domain information management part(S400). If a request for the stored domain information is received from a home device, a domain information providing part reads it from the domain information management part and provides it to the home device(S410). Deciding to register at the domain on the basis of the provided information, the home device makes a registration request to the domain manager. In this case, ID and key of the home device are delivered to a domain data providing part through the domain manager. The domain data providing part confirms and determines whether the home device can be registered at the domain(S420). If the registration of home device for the domain is settled, the domain data providing part safely provides data for the sharing of the contents of the domain to the home device(S430). At this moment, the domain data providing part creates domain membership validity information for the home device, extracts key of the domain from a domain data management part, and encodes the domain key and the created information by using key of the home device. The domain data providing part stores the created domain membership validity information and ID and key of the home device in a device information management part(S440).
