Abstract: PURPOSE: An integrated optical head having a coupler is provided to improve input coupling efficiency between a light source and a light guide layer, and output coupling efficiency between the light guide layer and an optical disc. CONSTITUTION: An integrated optical head includes a light source, a wave guide(105), an input coupler(103), an output coupler(107), a beam path converter, and photo-detectors(113a,113b). The wave guide guides a light beam emitted from the light source. The input coupler is located on one side of the top of the wave guide and couples the light beam to transmit it to the wave guide. The output coupler is located at the other side of the top of the wave guide and couples a light beam output from the wave guide to focus the beam on an optical disc(120). The beam path converter is provided on the wave guide and changes a path of a light beam that has been reflected from the optical disc and passed through the output coupler. The photo-detector receives the beam output from the beam path converter and converts the received beam into an electric signal to detect information of the optical disc.

Abstract: 집적형 광 헤드가 개시된다. 개시된 광 헤드는, 광을 출사하는 광원과, 광이 진행하는 웨이브 가이드와, 웨이브 가이드 상의 일단부에 위치하며, 상기 광원으로부터 입사하는 광을 에바네센트 커플링하여 웨이브 가이드로 전달하는 에바네센트 입력 커플러와, 웨이브 가이드 상의 타단부에 위치하며 웨이브 가이드를 출사하는 광을 커플링하여 광디스크에 포커싱하는 출력 커플러와, 웨이브 가이드 상에 마련되며 광디스크를 반사한 다음 출력 커플러를 통과하는 광의 경로를 변화시키는 광경로 변환수단 및 광경로 변환수단을 통과한 광을 수광한 다음 광전변환시켜 광디스크의 정보를 검출하는 광검출기를 구비한다. 입력 커플링 효율과 출력 커플링 효율을 높임으로써 광손실을 감소시켜 기록 및 재생 성능이 향상된 광 헤드를 제공할 수 있으며, 경박단소한 집적형 광 헤드를 구현할 수 있다.
