Abstract: PURPOSE: A data input method and a portable terminal implementing the same are provided to conveniently input various kinds of data by easily changing a keypad into a desired input mode. CONSTITUTION: A touch screen(110) generates a touch event in response to the manipulation of a user. A display unit(130) displays an identifier representing different keypads. If the touch event selecting the identifier is received from the touch screen, a control unit(150) displays a keypad corresponding to the selected identifier. The display unit arranges identifiers on a side of the screen, moves the identifier from the side of the screen to the center, and displays the keypad on a side of the identifier. Abstract: PURPOSE: A data input method of a portable terminal with a touch screen and a device thereof are provided to utilize a keypad displayed in the space without changing the input mode of a separation keypad, thereby inputting data which is not provided by the separation keypad.
