Abstract: An image display device and a method for setting a game mode are provided to allow a user to set a gate mode suitable for a selected game genre using on OSD(On Screen Display) menu. An image display device has a plurality of game modes. The image display device comprises a storage unit(110), an OSD generation unit(130), a signal process unit(140), and a display unit(150). The storage unit(110) stores signal process procedures corresponding to game genres. The OSD generation unit(130) generates an OSD menu for selecting game genres. When one game genre is selected through the OSD menu, the signal processor(140) processes video signal according to a signal process procedure corresponding to the selected game genre. The display unit(150) displays the OSD menu and displays the processed video signal on a screen.
