PURPOSE: A three dimensional display device and a driving method thereof are provided to enable a user to effectively watch 3D contents without 3d eyeglasses. CONSTITUTION: A three dimensional display device comprises a barrier(110), a display panel(120), and a controller(130). The display panel outputs a multi-viewpoint image. The barrier is placed on one side of the display panel. The controller alternatively forms a light transmission area and a light blocking area. The barrier comprises a liquid crystal layer, multiple upper electrodes, and multiple lower electrodes. The upper electrodes are separated from each other on the upper surface of the liquid crystal layer and are consecutively arranged. The lower electrodes are separated from each other on the lower surface of the liquid crystal layer and are consecutively arranged.

A display apparatus is disclosed. The display apparatus includes: a video processing unit configured to combine a right-eye image and a left-eye image to create an image frame; a display panel configured to display an image frame; and a touch panel configured to sense a user touch, wherein the touch panel includes a polarizing switch panel configured to switch a direction of polarization of light emitted from the display panel, and a parallax realization layer which is formed on one side of the polarizing switch panel and is configured to provide a binocular disparity image by using light emitted from the polarizing switch panel. Accordingly, the entire thickness of the display apparatus with the touch panel may be reduced.

PURPOSE: A method and apparatus for generating a sync signal to control 3D glasses, and a method and apparatus for transmitting and receiving the sync signal are provided to execute a program by using a computer-readable recording medium. CONSTITUTION: A method for generating a sync signal to control 3D glasses comprises the steps of: generating sync starting indication information which indicates the starting of a 3D glasses control sync signal(532); generating state sequence mode information indicating the right and left opening/closing states of the 3D glasses(534); creating sequence duty information which includes the maintenance time of the 3D glasses operation state(536); and generating a 3D glasses control sync signal by sequentially combining the generated information(538).

PURPOSE: A backlight unit, a display device and a backlight unit control method are provided to increase the stereoscopic effect of an image by controlling the brightness of a light emitting device according to the brightness of the image. CONSTITUTION: An image depth extracting unit(24) extracts image depth information from an image signal. A brightness outputting unit(26) outputs the brightness from the image depth information. A control unit(28) controls the light emitting devices according to the brightness. An image board generates an image signal. A display panel displays an image according to an image signal of the image board. A display panel driving unit(22) generates a display panel driving signal according to an image signal.

PURPOSE: A synchronous signal receiver, a shutter controller of three-dimensional glasses and a method thereof are provided to reduce the power consumption of shutter glasses. CONSTITUTION: A synchronous signal receiving unit(210) receives a wireless synchronous signal. A controller(220) analyzes the period of the received synchronous signal. The controller generates a mode signal in order to control the synchronous signal receiving unit. The synchronous signal receiving unit maintains a receiving state according to a mode signal.
