    Abstract: PURPOSE: A method for controlling a refrigerator is provided to smoothly start a compressor by reducing a difference in pressure between both ends of the compressor by turning on a valve of a refrigerating cabinet for a predetermined time. CONSTITUTION: A control unit turns on a valve of a refrigerating cabinet before starting a compressor(S100). The control unit senses inner temperatures of the refrigerating cabinet and a freezing cabinet(S101). Each inner temperature is compared with an upper limit temperature for judging a starting time of the compressor(S102). If any inner temperature is higher than the upper limit temperature, the control unit starts the compressor(S103). The control unit senses the inner temperature of the refrigerating cabinet to judge whether the inner temperature of the refrigerating cabinet is lower than a lower limit temperature(S104-S105). If so, the control unit turns off the valve of the refrigerating cabinet, and turns on a valve of the freezing cabinet to make a refrigerant flow into an evaporator of the freezing cabinet(S106). The control unit senses the inner temperature of the freezing cabinet to judge whether the inner temperature of the freezing cabinet is lower than a lower limit temperature(S107-S108). If so, the control unit stops the compressor, and turns off the valve of the freezing cabinet(S109-110).
