Abstract: An apparatus and a method for controlling key-lock in a portable terminal are provided to execute functions of the portable terminal by reducing steps up to execution of the functions of the portable terminal. An apparatus for controlling key-lock in a portable terminal comprises the followings. A memory(204) stores a user-defined list. A display(206) outputs the user-defined list. A controller(200) searches the user-defined list in the memory when a key-lock release event is generated, displays the searched list on the display, releases the key-lock when a function is selected in the user-defined list, and performs a control operations so as to perform the selected function.
