Abstract: A method and a system for managing an avatar are provided to display diverse user interfaces in a mobile terminal, enable the same user to set up the avatar in the mobile terminal by linking with the avatar present in the Internet, and enable the user to share the avatar stored in the mobile terminal with the mobile terminal of other users. The mobile terminal(10) sets up the avatar by combining item images selected from many item images respectively matched with components forming the stored avatar and generates an avatar inserted image by inserting the avatar into a selected position in the selected image. When the user requests transmission, the mobile terminal generates and transfers an avatar inserted image message including the avatar inserted image to other mobile terminals(20) and an avatar information management server(60). In case that the user sets up the avatar again, the mobile terminal makes and transmits an avatar information update message including avatar setting information of the reset avatar. The avatar information management server registers a number of other mobile terminals to a receiver list of the mobile terminal if the avatar inserted image is received.

Abstract: A multi-call method using short range communication and a mobile terminal for the same are provided to increase the application of short range communication modules by executing a multi-call with other mobile terminals using a local area network. If power is on(201), the first terminal displays and activates its own avatar(203). Then the first terminal detects other short range communication modules in a local area network(205). If a short range communication module is detected, the first terminal displays a character corresponding to the detected short range communication module together with its own character(207). If power is on, the second terminal displays and activates its own avatar(211,213). Then the second terminal detects other short range communication modules in the local area network(215). If a short range communication module is detected, the second terminal displays a character corresponding to the detected short range communication module together with its own character(217). The first terminal judges whether a call connection is made with the third terminal through a public network(221). In case that the first and third terminals get to a traffic state through the public network, the first, second, and third terminals become a multi-call state as the first and second terminals have already been in the communication enable state(223).
