Abstract: A washing machine and a method for controlling the same are provided to improve washing effect by aerosolizing water using an aerosolizing nozzle and injecting the aerosolized water into a washing tub regularly. A washing machine comprises a water tub(30), a washing tub(40), a drive unit(50), a shower unit(60), and a controller. The shower unit has an aerosolizing nozzle(62) which aerosolizes water and injects the aerosolized water into the washing tub. The controller operates the shower unit in an acceleration period and a deceleration period of dehydration.
