Abstract: An apparatus and a method for preventing contamination of a fusing unit of an image forming apparatus are provided to restrain a paper guide member from being contaminated by deleting print data of a front end of paper if a copying operation is performed without closing a cover due to inadvertence of a user. A storage unit(140) stores print data. A printer module(160) transfers print paper and perform a printing operation in order to print printing data. A main controller(130) sets a printing time according to the density of printing corresponding to a front end of the print paper, and controls the printer module to perform the printing operation according to the set printing time. A host computer(100) is connected with the main controller by the medium of an interface(110), and the storage unit receives the print data from the host computer and stores the same. The controller calculates the density of printing by using the print data. If the printing density is higher than a pre-set reference density, the controller sets the printing time such that it is delayed.

Abstract: A cleaning method and device of an image forming apparatus are provided to allow an image forming apparatus to determine whether a fuser is contaminated using a fusing roller temperature increase rate for a warming-up time to efficiently prevent the fuser from contamination. An image forming apparatus(100) includes a fuser having a fusing roller(50), a storage unit(30), and a controller(10). The storage unit stores average temperature increase rates of the fusing roller for respective surrounding environment states. The controller measures a surrounding environment state, a temperature value of the fusing roller at a warming-up start point, and a temperature value of the fusing roller at a warming-up end point, calculates a temperature increase rate by using the measured values, compares an average temperature increase rate corresponding to the measured surrounding environment state with the calculated temperature increase rate, and cleans the fuser according to the comparison result.
