An openable device performs normal functions unless the openable device falls free(S310). A freefall detecting sensor senses whether the openable device falls free(S320). A control unit closes an opening and shutting part when the openable device is falling free(S330). If the openable device is reading or writing data, a control unit controls to stop the reading or writing operation(S340). The control unit controls to move a hard disk drive to a ramp where a head performing reading and writing of data is not damaged by a shock(S350). The freefall detecting sensor judges whether freefall is completed(S360). If so, the openable device performs operations before freefall(S370).
