Abstract: A microphone control device of a portable terminal and a method thereof are provided to output a voice through connected earphones while receiving the voice through an embedded microphone of the terminal if a call connection event occurs in the terminal connected with the earphones without a microphone, thus a user can call even without separating the earphones connected to the terminal. A portable terminal senses generation of a call connection event of call connection request reception or call connection request transmission(200). If the generation of the call connection event is sensed, the terminal confirms information of a coupled connection device(202). If the connection device refers to earphones, the terminal activates speakers included in the earphones and activates an embedded microphone of the terminal(204~210).
