Abstract: A neighbor network discovery method and a system therefor are provided to be easily applicable to a legacy network by using the general DHCP(Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) for discovering a neighbor network of a mobile station. An NH DB(Neighborhood Database)(120) maintains configuration information related to one or more neighbor networks. A communication interface unit receives a request message for performance/configuration information of a neighbor network from a connected MS(Mobile Station)(130) through an AP/BS(Access Point/Base Station)(210). A database management unit reads the performance/configuration information of the neighbor network included in the request message by referring to the NH DB(120), and controls to transmit a response message including the performance/configuration information to the MS(130) through the communication interface unit.

Abstract: 본 발명은 와이어리스(wireless) 네트워크에 관한 것으로서, 더욱 상세하게는 인터넷 프로토콜(IP) 기반의 와이어리스 네트워크에서 모바일 스테이션(Mobile Station; MS)가 네이버(neighbor) 네트워크를 디스커버리(discovery)하는 방법 및 이를 위한 네트워크 관리 서버와 상기 서버의 동작 방법에 관한 것이다. 본 발명에 따른 와이어리스 네트워크 시스템의 네트워크 관리 서버는, 하나 이상의 네이버 네트워크에 대한 구성 정보를 유지하는 네이버후드(Neighborhood; NH) 데이터베이스, 소정의 억세스 포인트(access point) 또는 기지국(BS)를 통하여 접속된 모바일 스테이션(mobile station)으로부터 네이버(neighbor) 네트워크의 성능/구성정보에 대한 요청 메시지를 수신하는 통신 인터페이스부, 및 상기 NH 데이터베이스를 참조하여 상기 요청 메시지에 포함된 상기 네이버 네트워크의 성능/구성정보를 독출하고, 상기 통신 인터페이스를 통해 상기 성능/구성정보를 포함하는 응답 메시지를 상기 모바일 스테이션으로 전송하도록 제어하는 데이터베이스 관리부를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 한다.
