    Abstract: An optical pickup apparatus is provided to reduce the length of wiring in a monitor optical detector by using a fixed resistor connected to the path of a photoelectric converter and an optical power controller. An optical pickup apparatus comprises plural laser diodes, a monitor optical detector, an object lens, and a spectrometer. The laser diodes provide light having different wavelengths for recording and reproducing information. The monitor optical detector detects the intensity of light emitted from the laser diode.     Abstract: An apparatus and a method for writing and reproducing data of an optical disk are provided to prevent an error resulting from initial focus dependency when seeking a recording method and to confirm that the recording method learning is stable by adjusting the focus bias to a section of a maximum value of an RF(Radio Frequency) signal or of a minimum value of a jitter. The RF signal processing part processes a reproducing signal reflected from the optical pickup, generates the RF signal, and converts the RF signal into a binary signal. The PLL part keeps frequency of the output signal from the RF signal processing part constant. The matrix jitter measuring part measures a jitter from the PLL error signal obtained by the PLL. The CPU adjusts focus bias to a section of a maximum value of the RF signal or of a minimum value of the jitter, or adjusts the focus bias to the center value of the laser power margin. A digital signal processing part(35) converts the RF signal into a digital signal, and demodulates or modulates the data at the time of recording.
