Abstract: Provided are an audio device and a method of controlling the same which automatically allocates an output terminal of the audio device to corresponding positions according to the position of a speaker. The audio device includes: a signal processing unit for processing a plurality of voice signals corresponding to a plurality of speakers; a voice signal output unit including a plurality of output ends which output the plurality of processed voice signals to the plurality of speakers; and a control unit for recognizing the positions of the plurality of speakers corresponding to the plurality of voice signals, respectively based on the response characteristics of the plurality of speakers, and allocating a plurality of output ends such that the plurality of voice signals corresponding to the plurality of speakers of the recognized positions are output. Accordingly, the present invention can provide an audio device and a method of controlling the same by which an audio device and a speaker can be installed more conveniently and a user can be provided with a better quality by freely disposing a plurality of speakers, automatically recognizing positions of the speakers even when the speakers are freely connected to an output terminal of the audio device, and automatically allocating the output terminal of the audio device according to the positions of the speakers.
