Abstract: PURPOSE: A device and a method for reducing a feedback overhead in a closed loop MIMO system are provided to reduce the size of feedback information in feedback. CONSTITUTION: A control unit(730) feedbacks a long term PMI to a serving base station according to a serving base station if a long term PMI(Precoder Matrix Index) feedback transmission event is generated. The control unit generates a new codebook by using a long term PMI. The control unit determines a short term PMI from a new code book. A feedback transmitter(724) feedbacks the short term PMI to a serving base station.

Abstract: PURPOSE: Downlink PMI coordination based on a base station antenna configuration is provided to enable a terminal to determine downlink transmission PMI for a base station according to a PMI subset indicator and determined DL channel quality. CONSTITUTION: A terminal receives a PMI(Precoding Matrix Index) subset indicator from a base station(1100). The PMI subset indicator can be periodically transmitted to the terminal. The terminal determines downlink channel quality of the base station(1110). The terminal determines a PMI according to the PMI subset indicator and the determined DL channel quality(1120). The terminal feeds back the determined PMI to the base station(1130).
