Abstract: A channel changing apparatus and method in a digital broadcast receiver are provided to reduce delay when a channel is changed. A broadcast data storage unit(106) stores a channel predicted to be changed and buffers it. A channel prediction database(116) stores and manages previous channel change information. A channel changing unit(120) detects a channel change request and controls to store the requested changed channel in the channel prediction database. When the channel changing unit detects the channel change request, a channel predicting unit(122) controls to search a change-predicted channel to be changed following the changed channel from the channel prediction database and buffers the same in the broadcast data storage unit.

Abstract: An apparatus and a method for transmitting a multicast packet in a mobile digital broadcasting system are provided to input information about a target receiver to a packet header and transmit the multicast packet when the transmitter of the mobile digital broadcasting system transmits an EMM(Entitlement Management Message) in a multicast packet format, and check only header information and determine whether the received multicast packet is necessary in a receiver, thereby reducing a process for checking an unnecessary EMM to reduce the load of the receiver and the delay of processing speed. A mobile digital broadcasting system comprises a broadcaster(300), a receiver(350), and an IP(Internet Protocol) allocation server(371). The broadcaster displays that a target receiver is determined in the IP header of a multicast packet in the multicast broadcasting of data which a target to receive is determined, and includes the temporary IP address of the target receiver into the IP header, and transmits the multicast packet. The receiver receives the multicast packet and provides the received multicast packet as application for outputting digital broadcasting if a group of the received multicast packet is a connected group and the target receiver is determined as the receiver itself. The IP allocation server allocates the temporary IP address if the receiver requests the IP allocation server to allocate the temporary IP address, stores the allocated temporary IP address and the identifier information of the receiver, an allocation target, and transmits the allocated temporary IP address and the identifier information of the receiver, the allocation target, to the broadcaster.
