    Abstract: PURPOSE: A data transmission and reception device and a method thereof are provided to maintain the stability of a system regardless of the length of information words by adaptively selecting a reduction or punch rate according to required channel state information. CONSTITUTION: An encoder(1101) encodes transmission signals. A puncher controller(1105) determines punch bit numbers according to a kind of the signals. A puncher(1103) punches an encode word received from the encoder according to the punch bit number determined in the puncher controller. The encoder includes a BCH/LDPC(Bose, Chaudhuri, Hocque-nghem/Low Density Parity Check) encoder. The puncher controller confirms a performance required in a system according to the kind of the signals. The puncher controller determines the punch bit number according to the performance required in the system.
