Abstract: An apparatus for driving a multi-function device is provided to enable a power control unit to control power not to be delivered to a paper delivery roller gear when a paper is picked up in a printing mode and to control the power to be delivered only to a scanner driving unit and not to be delivered to the paper delivery roller gear in a scanning mode, thereby preventing the paper discharged to the outside after printing from entering reversely by a paper delivery roller. An apparatus for driving a multi-function device includes a scanner driving unit(200) and a printer driving unit(100). The scanner driving unit drives a document transfer unit(30) for picking up and transferring a document. The printer driving unit drives a paper transfer unit(20) which has a paper pickup roller(21) and a paper delivery roller(23), and picks up and transfers a paper. The apparatus includes at least one driving motor(300) and a power control unit(400). At least one driving motor supplies power to the scanner driving unit and the printer driving unit. The power control unit delivers the power of the driving motor selectively to one of a paper delivery roller gear, formed on the same axis as that of the paper delivery roller, and the scanner driving unit and controls the power delivered to the paper delivery roller gear.
