Abstract: PURPOSE: A device and a method for transmitting a random access preamble are provided to acquire excellent frequency diversity by distributing PACH(Random Access CHannel) backup resources at the both ends of a frequency band. CONSTITUTION: Firstly, UE(User Equipment) receives signal from a BS(Base Station) through a transmitting/receiving unit(504). The received signal is de-multiplexed through a physical channel de-multiplexer(503) and broadcast information(501) on RACH configuration and SRS configuration information(502) are obtained; Then, if it is necessary to transmit the random access preamble, UE selects its occupied RACH resources from the plurality of continuous ones at one end of the system frequency band according to currently configured RACH resource configuration pattern. Now, the random access preamble is generated in a random access preamble generator(506). After multiplexed by a physical channel multiplexer(505) into the selected RACH resources, the preamble is transmitted through the transmitting/receiving unit. In the case that BS configures the frequencies other than those for RACH resources to be transmit SRS, UE generates STS in an SRS generator(507), multiplexes it into the BS's configured frequencies through the physical channel multiplexer, and then transmits it through the transmitting/receiving unit.
