Abstract: A method and a method for setting a PC connecting mode in a portable terminal are provided to set the PC connection mode suitable for a program executed in the PC without making a user set or switch the connection mode by switching the connection mode of the portable terminal automatically according to a type of the program executed in the PC. A communication module(204) receives a signal, which requests a predetermined connection mode among the connection modes between a portable terminal and a PC, from the PC when the portable terminal is connected to the PC. A connection mode switching unit(202) connects the PC and the portable terminal in the requested connection mode. The connection mode is an MTP(Multimedia Transfer Protocol) for transceiving a moving picture or music file, a USB(Universal Serial Bus) mode transceiving an image or text file, and a mass storage mode transceiving mass data. The signal is formed by an AT command or an OP(OPeration) code. An input unit(210) provides(200) a controller with data which corresponds to keys a user presses, and the controller controls and processes a function for converting a current mode to a connection mode by discriminating a connection mode which is requested from a computer connected to a terminal through a wire.

Abstract: A method and a device for setting a PC connection mode in a portable terminal are provided to enable a user to set or switch the PC connection mode every time by changing the PC connection mode authentication according to a type of a program executed in a PC when the portable terminal is connected to the PC.
