본 발명은 저더 검출을 이용한 디인터레이싱 방법에 관한 것으로, 입력 영상의 현재 필드, 이전 필드 및 다음 필드를 비교하여 얻어진 움직임 벡터를 이용하여 보간 화소를 생성하고, 현재 필드에서 보간이 수행될 화소 주변의 화소 값을 이용하여 보간 화소를 생성하며, 움직임 벡터를 이용하여 생성된 보간 화소를 이용하여 보간 된 필드와 현재 필드를 비교하여 저더의 양을 검출한 후, 검출 결과에 기초하여, 움직임 벡터를 이용하여 생성된 보간 화소 또는 주변의 화소 값을 이용하여 생성된 보간 화소를 선택적으로 이용하여 보간을 수행함으로써, 잘못된 움직임 벡터를 사용하여 발생할 수 있는 보간 오류를 효과적으로 검출하고 제거할 수 있다. 디인터레이싱, 저더, 보간, 인트라, 인터

PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for detecting format of an image signal are provided to detect 2:2 pull-down image format by a relatively simple construction. CONSTITUTION: An image signal is inputted to the first and second SAD(Summed Absolute Difference) value calculation units(100,110) and the image signal comprises time continuous plural fields, that is, a current field, a previous field and a next field. The first SAD value calculation unit(100) calculates the first SAD value on the basis of the pixel values of the current field and the previous field. The second SAD value calculation unit(110) calculates the first SAD value on the basis of the pixel values of the current field and the next field. A pattern generation unit(120) compares with the first and second SAD values and then produces check patterns according to the comparison result. A pattern analysis unit(130) stores th check pattern by a field, compares the stored check patterns with the previous stored check patterns and discriminates whether the inputted image signal is 2:2 pull down format image.

PURPOSE: A deinterlacing apparatus and a method therefor are provided to deinterlace a still region and a motion region in a field to be interpolated, thereby improving the quality. CONSTITUTION: A previous field buffer(106), a current field buffer(104), and a next field buffer(102) sequentially store each field of video signals which are consecutively inputted. A zero movement estimator(130) calculates an SAD(Sum of Absolute Differences) value by search units with a standard of the next field stored in the next field buffer and the previous field stored in the previous field. A still region/film mode detector(140) judges whether a predetermined search area is a still region or a source of the video signals is a film based on the SAD value. A three-dimensional interpolation unit(120) adaptively outputs a temporal interpolation value and a spatial interpolation value based on motion information. An adaptive selection unit(150) outputs deinterlacing results based on output of the previous field, the next field, and the three-dimensional interpolation unit according to output signals of the still region/film mode detector.

PURPOSE: A deinterlacing apparatus and method are provided to carry out appropriate interpolation according to a degree of motion and a direction of a boundary in the case of an area having a motion to improve picture quality. CONSTITUTION: A deinterlacing apparatus includes a motion detector(110), an intra-field interpolator(140), an inter-field interpolator(150), and a soft switch(160). The motion detector extracts a degree of motion between a previous field and a next field to calculate a weight. The inter-field interpolator detects a direction value included in pixel values of pixels surrounding a pixel to be interpolated of a current field, and calculates an interpolation value using the surrounding pixel values according to the direction value. The inter-field interpolator calculates an interpolation value that is obtained by averaging pixel values of the previous field and next field corresponding to the pixel to be interpolated. The soft switch mixes the output value of the intra-field interpolator with the output value of the inter-field interpolator using the weight.

PURPOSE: A display device and image processing method applying the same are provided to improve the picture quality and to perform image enhancement processing due to repeating image enhancement processing of a frame. CONSTITUTION: An image quality improve unit(220) processes an input image signal in order to enhance the image quality of an input image. A control unit(170) repetitively controls the image quality through an image enhancing unit. The control unit sets up an input image signal according to the property of the input image.

PURPOSE: A display apparatus and a display method thereof are provided to use state information of an image signal, thereby increasing picture quality of the image signal. CONSTITUTION: A receiver(210) receives an image signal transmitted from an image reproduction device and state information of the image signal. A controller(220) determines how to treat picture quality of the image signal based on the state information. An image processing unit(230) processes an image signal by the determined picture quality improving method. A display unit(240) displays the processed image signal. The state information comprises conversion state information of the converted image signal.

PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for converting an image format are provided to change a screen into a progressive format without an error by selecting an interpolation method adaptively according to the existence of text and graphic data of a moving interlace format in a 3:2 pull-down input image. CONSTITUTION: An input image of an interlace format for interpolating is inputted to a scroll text/graphic detecting unit(100), a 3:2 pull-down detecting unit(150), a 3:2 pull-down compensating unit(200), an IPC(Interlaced-to-Progressive Conversion) unit(250), a conversion method selection unit(300) and an output unit(350). The scroll text/graphic detecting unit(100) discriminates whether a scroll motion like an interlace format text scrolled horizontally or graphic data exist in the current field on the basis of the current field and the reference field. The 3:2 pull-down detecting unit(150) detects whether the input image is 3:2 format image produced by 3:2 pull-down. The 3:2 pull-down compensating unit(200) calculates an interpolating value corresponding to the pixel for interpolating at the current field by 3:2 pull-down interpolation method. The IPO unit(250) calculates an interpolating value corresponding to the pixel for interpolating at the current field by a motion-compensated interpolation method.

PURPOSE: A deinterlacing device and a method therefor are provided to have a quick processing speed by simultaneously calculating an interpolation value and a weight value using an estimation motion vector and selecting one between the interpolation value and the weight value. CONSTITUTION: A motion compensation unit has motion compensation auxiliary units(100a-100n), the first and second multiplexers(200,250) and a motion selecting unit(150). The motion compensation unit performs a motion-compensated temporal interpolation according to a plurality of estimated motion vectors on the basis of a previous field and a next field, generates interpolation values about pixels to be interpolated, and outputs one of the interpolation values as the first interpolation value. A spatial interpolation unit(300) generates the second interpolation value about the pixels using pixel values of peripheral pixels of the pixels to be interpolated. An output unit(350) mixes the first interpolation value and the second interpolation value using a certain weight value, and outputs the mixed interpolation value.

PURPOSE: A system and method for detecting a motion are provided to detect a moving region and a still region easily and rapidly while preventing the generation of a spurious still region in the current field to be interpolated. CONSTITUTION: A motion detection system includes a motion detection part(100), a motion counter part(150), a motion counter buffer part(200), and a moving expansion part(250). The motion detection part sequentially receives a plurality of continuous fields and detects a motion information value representing whether there is a motion for each block/pixel of the currently received field. The motion counter part corrects motion information value for each pixel/block, stored in the motion counter buffer part, according to the motion information value detected by the motion detection part. The moving expansion part expands a motion information value from a moving pixel to adjacent pixels using the motion information value stored in the motion counter buffer part.

본 발명은 디스플레이 장치 및 디스플레이 장치의 제어 방법에 관한 것이다. 본 발명에 따른 디스플레이 장치는, 좌안 영상과 우안 영상을 포함하는 3차원 영상 신호를 수신하는 신호 수신부; 상기 3차원 영상 신호의 포맷이 제1 전송 포맷이면, 상기 3차원 영상 신호의 포맷을 제2 전송 포맷으로 변환하는 변환부; 상기 포맷 변환된 3차원 영상 신호를 3D 디스플레이를 위해 신호 처리하는 3D처리부; 및 상기 신호 처리된 3차원 영상 신호에 대하여 상기 3D 디스플레이를 수행하는 디스플레이부를 포함하며, 이에 의해 새로운 규격에 의하여 추가된 3차원 영상 신호를 기존 규격에 의한 3차원 영상 신호를 처리하는 시스템에서 처리 가능한 형태로 변경하여 처리할 수 있다.
