    Abstract: PURPOSE: A microorganism which is a mutant strain of Clostridium butyricum is provided to ensure high resistance to 1,3-propandiol and to reduce generation of butyric acid and acetic acid. CONSTITUTION: Clostridium butyricum produces 1,3-propanediol and has resistance to 0.4-0.8 M of 1,3-propanediol. Clostridium butyricum is Clostridium butyricum KCTC 12095BP. A method for producing 1,3-propanediol comprises a step of culturing the strain in a medium containing glycerol as a carbon source.
