Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of unlocking a shortcut in a mobile terminal capable of executing a certain application directly on a lock screen and a device thereof. The method includes: a step of outputting a lock screen including an icon area for displaying at least one application icon and a pattern area for receiving a pattern gesture input for unlocking; a step of detecting a touch signal for moving a certain icon displayed in the icon area to the pattern area; a step of checking if a first pattern gesture for unlocking is inputted from the pattern area without release of the touch signal; a step of, if the first pattern gesture is inputted, checking if the inputted first pattern gesture and a predefined unlocking pattern gesture are identical; and a step of, if the inputted first pattern gesture and the predefined unlocking pattern gesture are identical, unlocking the mobile terminal and executing an application corresponding to the certain icon.
