Abstract: An apparatus and a method for providing a text viewer for media regeneration in a portable terminal are provided to execute the regeneration of a music file and the confirmation of a text file at the same by providing a text viewer capable of media regeneration. A portable terminal comprises a control part(100), a media regeneration part(110), and a text management part(120). The control part(100) controls the media regeneration part(110) and the text management part(120). The media regeneration part(110) acquires a regenerable media file list as instructed by the control part(100). The text management part(120) executes the creation and storage of text information equivalent to a text file as instructed by the control part(100). The media regeneration part(110) contains a media storage part(112). The media storage part(112) stores media files which can be used as text background sounds. The control part(100) supplies media information, which will be set as a text background sound, to the text management part(120) so that the text management part(120) can create text information.
