Abstract: An electric device is provided to receive a communication signal from the outside without respective to power supplied to a processor by using a switch controller for controlling a switch to supply the communication signal to the processor in a normal mode and a memory in a power-off mode. The processor(40) processes the external communication signal. A communication port such as a USB(Universal Serial Bus) port(10) receives the external communication signal including the power, a control signal, and data. The switch(20) applies the external communication signal received through the communication port to the processor or the memory. The switch controller(45) controls the switch to make the external communication signal applied to the memory in the power-off mode and the processor in the normal mode. If the normal mode is entered, the processor searches whether the data is stored to the memory by the external communication signal. In case that the external communication signal includes upgrade data, the processor performs an upgrade operation based on the upgrade signal.
