Abstract: PURPOSE: A control method of an air conditioner is provided to decrease the probability of data conflict by minimizing waiting time for communication from unused address, and to reduce the entire communication time for automatically setting the address by decreasing the communication waiting time of the indoor unit. CONSTITUTION: An outdoor unit of an air conditioner demands the registration of respective indoor units(402), and the air conditioner receives data packet including information on the temporary address from each indoor unit(404). The effectiveness of the header of the data packet to the communication protocol is inspected(406). The residual portion of the data packet is received if the header of the data packet is satisfied with the communication protocol(407). The registration of the indoor units is finished in finishing receiving the final data packet(408). The respective indoor units generate the temporary intrinsic addresses, and transmit the temporary addresses to the outdoor unit after the intrinsic waiting time decided by the factors including the temporary addresses in demanding the temporary addresses of the indoor units from the outdoor unit.
