Abstract:
A balancing weight, a disc pack of a hard disc drive with the balancing weight, and a method for balancing the disc pack are provided to prevent a pollutant from being generated inside the hard disc drive and to cut down manufacturing cost of the hard disc drive. A balancing weight(100) includes an insertion unit and a fixing unit. The insertion unit is inserted into an opened screw hole(85-C) of a disc pack, which consists of a screw hole(86a) of a spindle motor(80) arranged mutually and a screw hole(86b) of a disc clamp(82). The fixing unit is connected to the insertion unit to prevent separation from the screw hole. The insertion unit includes a cylindrical shaft whose diameter is suitable to be inserted into the opened screw hole of the disc pack. The fixing unit has a compressible latch which is compressed when passing through the screw hole of the disc clamp and expanded after passing, to prevent the balancing weight from being separated from the disc clamp. A method for balancing the disc pack by using the balancing weight includes a step of analyzing balance of the disc pack; and a step of preventing the balancing weight from being separated from the disc pack by inserting the balancing weight into the opened screw hole of the disc pack when requesting the disc pack to be balanced.
Abstract:
A swage mount plate that can be used to attach a suspension arm to an actuator arm of a hard disk drive. The swage mount plate may include a sleeve that can be inserted into corresponding swage openings of the suspension arm and an actuator beam of the actuator arm. The swage plate may include at least one flange that extends from said sleeve and becomes embedded into the actuator beam. The flange may increase the retention torque of the swage plate.

PURPOSE: A swage mount plate of hard disk drive is provided so that high combination torque per a sleeve height can be obtained by forming a flange extended from the sleeve. CONSTITUTION: The swage mount plate of hard disk drive includes a hard disk drive. The hard disk drive includes a spindle motor mounted to a base plate. The spindle motor makes a plurality of disk rotate. The disks are rotated to an actuator arm assembly. The actuator arm assembly has a plurality of head gimbal assembly mounted on an actuator beam of an actuator arm. Each head gimbal includes a mounted at a suspension. Each suspension arm is mounted to the actuator beam by a swage mount plate. The swage mount plate is used to attach the suspension arm to the actuator arm.

PURPOSE: A disk guard of a hard disk drive is provided to prevent an actuator arm and a data storage region of a disk from being contacted directly although an impact is forced. CONSTITUTION: A disk guard of a hard disk drive comprises a disk guard(48) which is attached at a housing(32). The disk guard(48) has a plate(50) of a plurality of ridge parts(52). The plurality of ridge parts(52) are separated by a plurality of grooves(54). An outside end(56) of a disk(16) is placed in the grooves(54). A width of each groove(54) is more than a thickness of the disk(16) so that the outside end(56) of the disk(16) rotates a space between the grooves(54) without an interference of the ridge parts(52). The plate(50) comprises a pair of mounting holes(58,60), which force the disk guard(48) is fixed at a base plate of the hard disk drive by a fastener. The plate(50) comprises an alignment tab(64) for aligning the disk guard(48) in the hard disk drive.
