Abstract:
PURPOSE: A device for preventing damage by a head slam of the hard disk drive is provided to reduce the impact generated when the head is slapped on the disk by limiting distance from head to surface of disk. CONSTITUTION: A hard disk drive assembly is equipped with one or more disks(12) rotated by a spindle motor. Each disk(12) has a upper surface(18) and a lower surface(19). A multiplicity of heads(20) are coupled magnetically to the disks(12). Each head(20) is mounted on suspensions(22). The heads(20) and the suspensions(22) are generally called a head gimbal assembly. The head gimbal assembly is installed at a beam(26) of an actuator arm connected at a base plate in a hinge axis. The suspensions(22) are attached to the beam(26) of the actuator arm together with a swage plate(30). Each suspension(22) has an elbow(32), because the actuator slopes toward the upper surface(18) of the disk. Each actuator arm beam(26) comprises an arm extension part(42), more protruded than the elbow(32) of the suspension(22).
Abstract:
PURPOSE: A spindle motor assembly for a hard disk drive having a balance tube and method for assembling the spindle motor assembly is provided, which has a balance tube for decreasing a manufacturing cost. CONSTITUTION: The spindle motor assembly for a hard disk drive having a balance tube comprises: a hub (26); a motor (30) for rotating the hub (26); a first disk (12) to be coupled to the hub (26); a second disk to be coupled to the hub (26); a spacer (40) for separating the first disk (12) into the second disk; and a tube (46) which a moving material coupled to the spacer (40) is inserted, wherein the tub is located in a groove of the spacer. Thereby, it is possible to decrease the time of manufacturing progress and the manufacturing cost.
