    Abstract: A projection optical system and a projection television having the same are provided to reduce manufacturing cost of the projection optical system by reducing the number of plastic lenses. A projection optical system includes a lens module(M1) and an electron beam optical module(M2). The lens module includes a plastic compensation power lens and a hybrid lens. The hybrid lens includes a convex-type glass spherical lens and an aspherical lens layer, which is formed on at least one surface of the convex-type glass spherical lens. The electron beam optical module includes a C-type compensation element, a window, and a refrigerant, which is applied between the compensation element and the window. The aspherical lens layer is made of plastic. The hybrid lens has a relative focal power within a range of 0.95 to 0.98 as to the focal power of the projection optical system.
