Abstract: An apparatus and a method of re-transmission using a relay station in a multi-hop system are provided to improve efficiency of retransmission by determining a subject to retransmit according to a channel status by using the relay station. An apparatus of retransmission using a relay station in a multi-hop system includes a base station(210), a relay station(230), and a mobile subscriber station(220). The base station(210) has a cell area(260) for transmitting data to the mobile subscriber station(220). The relay station(230) receives data of the base station(210) and transmits the data to the mobile subscriber station(220) instead of the base station(210). The mobile subscriber station(220) receives the data from the base station(210) or receives the data from the relay station(230) in case of bad communication with the base station(210).
