Abstract: A character input method and an electronic device adopting the same are provided to reduce the number of keys required for the character input by recognizing a plurality of characters, which are simultaneously inputted from a user, as the input of different characters. If a character key is inputted through a user input unit from a user, a controller determines the number of inputted character keys(S710,S720,S760). If two character keys are inputted, the controller determines whether a pair of the inputted character keys is entered in a table(S730), recognizes a character indicated by the character-key pair(S740), and then displays the recognized character on a display unit(S750).
