Abstract: PURPOSE: A method and system for message transmission is provided to transfer a message when routing information does not exist. CONSTITUTION: A method for transmitting a message in a message transmission system including an IWF(inter working function)(106) identified through an R-MSISDN(Representative Mobile Subscriber Integrated Services Digital Network Number) according to one embodiment of the present invention comprises the steps of: transferring a message including an R-MSISDN and an address of a receiving terminal from a transmission side to an IWF corresponding to the R-MSISDN; receiving the message extracting the address of the receiving terminal included in the message; obtaining routing information using the address of the receiving terminal extracted through the IWF; rebuilding the message using the routing information; and transferring the rebuilt message to the receiving terminal corresponding to the routing information.
