Abstract: An apparatus and a method for managing a phone book in a portable terminal are provided to manage the phone book memory of the portable terminal and search conveniently user information by managing telephone numbers with wrong user information or telephone numbers with low use frequency among telephone numbers stored in the phone book of the portable terminal. A phone book checking unit(103) checks the final use date of a telephone number stored in a portable terminal.
