A sealant, an LCD device having the same, and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to enable the sealant to contain a heat hardening agent containing a dihydrazide compound having a chain less than C5 and a hardening resin, thereby improving the image quality of the LCD device while arranging liquid crystal regularly. A liquid crystal layer is interposed between first and second substrates(100,200). A DA(Display Area) is defined on the first substrate. A sealing pattern(300) is formed along an edge of the first substrate in the outside of the DA. Plural gate lines(110) and data lines(140) on the first substrate in the DA. A PA(Pixel Area) is defined by crossing the gate lines and the data lines. A pixel electrode(160) and a TFT(Thin Film Transistor)(T) are installed in each of the PAs. A sealant includes a heat hardening agent and a hardening resin. The heat hardening agent contains a dihydrazide compound having a chain less than C5(Carbon number 5). The dihydrazide compound is following H2NHN-(C=0)-R-(C=0)-NHNH2. R is hydrocarbon. The dihydrazide compound has a weight ratio in a range of 5 to 20%. The dihydrazide compound has a melting point in a range of 160~180 degrees Celsius. The hardening resin contains acryl resin and epoxy resin.

An LCD and a display substrate for the LCD are provided to realize a multi-domain structure even when an alignment layer is rubbed in one direction, by forming tilting members on a substrate and then forming the alignment layer on the tilting members and the substrate. A plurality of first tilting members(33) are disposed on a first substrate(100). A first alignment layer(11) is formed on the first tilting members and the first substrate. A second substrate(200) is disposed to face the first substrate. A second alignment layer(21) is formed on the second substrate. A liquid crystal layer(3) is interposed between the first substrate and the second substrate. The first alignment layer and the second alignment layer have rubbing directions perpendicular to each other.

A liquid crystal display(LCD) device with improved response time and a driving method thereof are provided to reduce the response time by preventing generation of an abnormal waveform even when anisotropy of an LCD capacitor increases. A liquid crystal display device includes plural gate lines, plural data lines, pixel arrays, a gate driver(150), a data driver, and a timing controller(110). The data lines are insulated from the gate lines and cross the gate lines. The pixel arrays are formed at intersections between the gate and data lines and include a switching transistor, an LCD capacitor, and an auxiliary capacitor. The gate driver supplies a gate voltage to the gate lines. The data driver supplies a data voltage to the data lines. The timing controller controls the gate and data drivers in response to a synchronous signal, and outputs color data corresponding to a driving voltage suitable for second color data, when the second color data needs to be over-driven as the color data is switched from first color data to the second color data.

본발명은 액정표시장치에 관한 것이다. 본발명에 따른 액정표시장치는 화소전극이 형성되어 있는 제1기판과, 상기 제1기판과 대향하며 공통전극이 형성되어 있는 제2기판과, 상기 제1기판과 상기 제2기판 사이에 위치하고 있는 액정을 포함하며, 상기 화소전극에 인가되는 블랙전압(Vb)은 3 내지 4.4 볼트이며, 상기 액정의 수직방향 유전율(ε ⊥ )은 수평방향 유전율(ε ∥ )의 0.27배 이상이다. 이에 의해 응답속도가 개선된 액정표시장치가 제공된다.

본 발명에 의한 액정 표시장치의 액정은 액정의 벌어짐 탄성계수(spray elastic constant) 및 휨 탄성계수(band elastic constant)는 각각 13 ×10 -13 N 이하이고, 액정의 유전율 이방성 Δε은 -3.0 내지 -3.8 범위인 경우, 굴절율 이방성 Δn의 범위는 0.09 내지 0.11 범위이고, 액정의 유전율 이방성 Δε은 -4.0 내지 -5.0 범위인 경우, 굴절율 이방성 Δn의 범위는 0.07 내지 0.09 범위에 포함된다. 본 발명은 액정의 응답속도를 향상시키는 효과가 있다.

An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) is provided to improve display quality even when the LCD is driven at a low voltage so as to reduce power consumption and secure a contrast ratio. An LCD(500) includes a first substrate(100), a second substrate(200) combined with the first substrate, and a liquid crystal layer(300) made of liquid crystal(310) having a dielectric constant anisotropy in the range of 12 to 15 and interposed between the first and second substrates. The first substrate includes a first base substrate(110) and a pixel electrode(120) formed on the first base substrate. The second substrate includes a second base substrate(210) opposite to the first base substrate and a common electrode(220) formed on the second base substrate. The LCD operates in a first driving mode or a second driving mode according to a voltage applied across the pixel electrode and the common electrode and the liquid crystal has different alignment states in the first driving mode and the second driving mode.

The second substrate(120) includes the first portion overlapped with the first substrate(110). The second portion of the second substrate is extended to the outside of the first substrate. A sealant member(140) includes the first sealant member formed along the circumference of the first portion of the second substrate. The second sealant member is extended from the first sealant member and adjacent to the second portion of the second substrate. A liquid crystal layer is located at a space formed by the first substrate, the second substrate and the sealant member. A portion of the second sealant is located at the second portion of the second substrate. The first sealant member is a rectangular shape and the second sealant member is located at the center of a side of the first sealant member.

A liquid crystal composition is provided to have a wide operation temperature range by controlling the content of a specific liquid crystal component. A liquid crystal composition contains a first class comprising a neutral liquid crystal compound, and a second class comprising a polar liquid crystal compound having at least one fluorine atom. The second class comprises a liquid crystal compound represented by the formula I of R1-CF2O-R2, wherein R1 and R2 are identical to or different from each other, and include an aromatic ring having at least one fluorine atom, respectively. The liquid crystal compound represented by the formula I is contained in an amount of 22wt% or less relative to the total content of the liquid crystal composition.
