Abstract: A method and an apparatus for quickly searching an EPG(Electronic Program Guide) are provided to save time and improve user convenience by removing the necessity of repeating key inputs of a remote controller tens or hundreds of times to search a program of a particular channel. An EPG decoder(26) decodes EPG data extracted from a digital broadcast signal. A controller(28) generates an EPG screen image by using the EPG data decoded by the EPG decoder. A user input unit(30) is used by a user to search a program of a desired channel while viewing the EPG screen image. The controller moves the EPG screen image in units of rows and blocks according to an input of the user input unit. The user input unit includes an input unit for sensing a touch speed. The input unit may include one of a touch pad, a rotatable knob and a wheel.
