Abstract: PURPOSE: A method and apparatus for converting an antenna gain of a mobile phone are provided to enhance a transmission/reception state and minimize a bad influence of electromagnetic waves on the user's body as necessary. CONSTITUTION: A sensor unit(111) senses that a mobile phone approaches the head of a user beyond a certain distance or contacts the head of the user when the user is in call communication. A controller(107) receives an output of the sensor unit(111) and generates a matching select control signal for conversion of a gain rate of an antenna. A switching unit(101) is switched according to the matching select control signal of the controller(107). The first matching circuit unit(103) matches for conversion of the gain rate in a call waiting state from the antenna according to selection of the switching unit(101) when the mobile phone is in the call waiting mode or immediately after the mobile phone is connected for call communication. The second matching circuit unit(105) matches for conversion of the gain rate in a state that the mobile phone approaches the head of the user beyond the certain distance or contacts the head from the antenna according to selection of the switching unit(101) in the call mode.
