Abstract: PURPOSE: A cathode active material for a lithium secondary battery is provided to be able to show an excellent energy density, cycle lifetime characteristic, output characteristic and thermal stability. CONSTITUTION: A cathode active material comprises a vanadium compound represented by Chemical formula 1: (Li_xNa_(1.5-x)_a(Z)_z((V)(O_g))_(1-z)(XO_4)F_f. The oxidation number of vanadium is +3 to +4. Herein, Z is an element selected from the group consisting of Fe, Ni, Co, Mn, Cr, Zr, Nb, Cu, Ti, Zn, Al, Ga, Mg, Ca and a combination of thereof, X is an element selected from the group consisting of P, S, Si, Mo, As, W and a combination of thereof, a, x, g and z are, respectively, a real number satisfying 0
