Abstract: The present invention relates to a high-capacity cathode active material and a lithium secondary battery comprising the same and, more particularly, the present invention provides a cathode active material comprising at least 50 wt% of alkali metavanadate on the basis of the total weight of the cathode active material, wherein the alkaline metavanadate has a crystalline phase or an amorphous phase, and the cathode active material has a composition of chemical formula AVO_3.
