Abstract: PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display and an optical compensation film therefor are provided to use a nematic crystal material of stick type as a splay film and to reduce the manufacture costs of a compensation film. CONSTITUTION: Each compensation film has a double film structure of biaxial films and a splay film (122,132). The liquid crystal molecules(111~113) of a liquid crystal display plate(110) is arranged by applying voltage. The liquid crystal molecules of the splay film correspond to the liquid crystal molecules of the liquid crystal display plate. The liquid crystal molecules of the biaxial film are arranged vertically to the liquid crystal molecules of the liquid crystal display plate by applying electric field.
