    Abstract: PURPOSE: A two-color laser system for terahertz frequency generation and optical sensing is provided to perform a tuning operation by accurately controlling a reflecting wavelength of a lattice. CONSTITUTION: Both surfaces of a semiconductor laser(1) are formed by high reflective coating and antireflective coating. An optical waveguide is connected to a side surface antireflective-coated of the semiconductor laser. The optical waveguide provides a path of a light from the semiconductor laser. A lattice part(10) has two different Bragg wavelengths among a plurality of wavelengths delivered through the optical waveguide. The lattice part includes a first lattice and a second lattice(30). The semiconductor laser, the optical waveguide, and the lattice part are integrated in one flat waveguide chip. The first lattice and the second lattice are serially connected.

    Abstract: An optical biosensor by using the SPR(surface Plasmon resonance) phenomenon is provided to precisely measure the concentration of biological material by using the optical signal and omit the etching process or polishing process in the manufacturing of the optical biosensor. The optical biosensor comprises: an input optical waveguide(10a) which has the first optical converter for converting the core mode into the cladding mode; an optical sensing unit(60) which evanishes the specific wavelength from the wavelengths comprised of the converted cladding mode corresponding to the concentration of biological material; and an output optical waveguide(10b) which has a second optical converter for converting the cladding mode in which the specific wavelength is evanished into the core mode.
