Abstract: An electric furnace of an induction heating type and a control method thereof are provided to prevent a local temperature rise of a heated substance by heating the heated substance with radiant heat evenly discharged from an inner heater. An electric furnace(1) of an induction heating type includes an inner heater(60), a tube-shaped heat insulator(30), an induction coil(10), a cooling water passage(20), a cooling water flow rate control device, a temperature sensor, and a cooling water flow rate control unit. The inner heater is formed in a tube shape with an inner space for heating a heated substance(50) and heats the heated substance by radiant heat(70). The tube-shaped heat insulator surrounds an outer surface of the inner heater. The induction coil is positioned to surround the outer surface of the inner heater at least one time by being laid in the heat insulator and heats the inner heater through electromagnetic induction. The cooling water passage is formed inside the induction coil to prevent heating of the induction coil. The cooling water flow rate control device controls a flow rate of the cooling water supplied to the cooling water passage. The temperature sensor measures a temperature of at least one of the heated substance, the inner heater, or the induction coil. The cooling water flow rate control unit compares the temperature measured by the temperature sensor with a set temperature and controls operation of the cooling water flow rate control device according to the comparison result.
