Abstract: A method for preparing a porous ion exchange catalyst membrane, and a porous ion exchange catalyst membrane prepared by the method are provided to improve ion conductivity and to reduce the crossover of methanol. A method for preparing a porous ion exchange catalyst membrane comprises the steps of electrospinning a polystyrene solution to obtain a polystyrene fiber; sulfonating the polystyrene fiber in a chlorosulfonic acid solution; and dipping a platinum catalyst in the polystyrene fiber to prepare a porous ion exchange catalyst membrane. Preferably the polystyrene fiber is sulfonated by using sulfuric acid, acetyl sulfate and their mixture.
