    Abstract: PURPOSE: A gemcitabine-containing polyester-based biodegradable polymeric microparticle using a supercritical fluid and a method for preparing the same are provided to obtain the microparticles with improved encapsulation efficiency, stability, and release property of hydrophilic gemcitabine. CONSTITUTION: A method for preparing gemcitabine-encapsulated polymeric microparticles comprises the steps of: dissolving gemcitabine, a polyester-based biodegradable polymer, or a mixture thereof in each solvent and mixing to prepare a mixture solution; contacting the mixture solution with a supercritical fluid by spraying to form gemcitabine-encapsulated polyester-based biodegradable polymeric microparticles; and removing remaining solvents.
