Abstract: A method for performing functions through character inputting in a portable terminal is provided to be capable of carrying out menu selection of the terminal through character inputting actions, thus a user does not have to search complex functions of an up-to-date portable terminal through menus, and reducing the waste of a time. A character selected by a user is inputted(S200,S210). The inputted character is compared with a prestored matching table(S220). Function lists searched according to the comparison are displayed(S230). One of the function lists is selected(S240,S250). The selected function is carried out. If a displayed function is not selected while the character is inputted, a character is additionally received, and one of SMS(Short Message Service) transmission, schedule inputting, and desktop word inputting functions is performed from the displayed function.

Abstract: A broadcasting program recommending method and a system applying the same using channel change information for recommending the broadcasting program are provided to recommend the broadcasting program at real time by retransmitting preference information and evaluating preference according to the broadcasting program. A signal collection agreeing unit(110) processes a consent about a channel switching information collection from a user. A channel change information collector(120) collects the channel change information whenever a user alters channel. A channel change information transmitter(130) transmits the channel change information to a broadcast recommendation service server(200). A preference information receiver informs the preference information to the channel change information collection.
