Abstract: PURPOSE: Provided are a novel use of chiroinositol or pinitol as a prevention and treatment agent for cataract and a composition thereof. The chiroinositol or pinitol is separated from soybeans, decreases blood glucose level and has few adverse effect and high stability. CONSTITUTION: The chiroinositol and its derivative, pinitol, principally exist in soybeans and display prevention and treatment effects on cataract. A pharmaceutical composition and a functional food or its composition contains, as an active ingredient, an appropriate amount of chiroinositol or pinitol which binds with pharmaceutically acceptable slat, a diluent or an excipient.

Abstract translation: 目的：提供作为白内障预防和治疗剂及其组合物的新戊酰肌醇或松软糖醇的新用途。 赤藓醇或松油醇与大豆分离，血糖值降低，副作用少，稳定性高。 构成：姜黄素及其衍生物，松油醇主要存在于大豆中，对白内障显示预防和治疗效果。 作为活性成分，药物组合物和功能性食品或其组合物含有与药学上可接受的鳞片，稀释剂或赋形剂结合的适量的chiroinositol或松软糖醇。
