Abstract: A method for detecting time slot collision between the optical network units in optical line terminal is provided. After de-activating all of the optical network units, when an optical signal still exists in the upstream transmission, each optical network unit is informed one by one to shut off the power source of its transmitter for distinguishing if there is a failure in optical network; when no optical signal exists in the upstream transmission after de-activating all of the optical network units, the problem is located by ranging the optical network units respectively. This method is implemented by updating software, without effecting intrinsic hardware design.
